Vermont (VT) Unemployment Information

Vermont (VT) Unemployment Insurance Information

In 1935 the Social Security Act established a means to temporarly subsidize income for those who became unemployed through no fault of their own. In Vermont, all aspects of the unemployment claims process are handled over the telephone by the Vermont Department of Labor's Claims Center. The Claims Center is responsible for assisting the unemployed worker in filing an unemployment claim, which could be paid under one of several different types of programs; answering claim related questions from workers and employers; and adjudicating all issues that arise, which could potentially impact the proper receipt of unemployment benefits.
